I can choose between two options if I want to improve the performance of my PC. So, I may clean my Registry regularly or clean the registry only if Windows encounters a serious problem and nothing else works.
If I have to clean my Registry, I back it up firstly. Though, most Registry cleaners will do this for me, but to be safe for 100%, I do it myself too. Using the information which I have happened to find here I have come to the conclusion that there is no concrete, trusty advise as regards the software products: EasyCleaner, CCCleaner So or Reg Organizer. All I can do is to fix all the problems my cleaner detects. But if it makes anything worse then I rely on backups.
